Johnny Mack Dalton, the son of Alexander Magee Dalton and Verbal Lee Montgomery, was born August 10, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas. At a young age, Johnny and his beloved stepfather Richard Kenneth Toerck and family moved to the Grand Prairie-Arlington area where he attended grade school and Arlington High School. Having grown up in a Christian home, Johnny understood at a young age the value of working hard and lived the example of having a servant’s heart.  As a youth, he played 2nd baseman for his church baseball team and often reminisced about hunting jack rabbits with his cousin and grandfather, affectionately known as “Paw”. His love for the outdoors followed him throughout his life and until he became ill looked forward to sharing his knowledge of hunting with his grandchildren at his deer lease each year.

Johnny lived an interesting life. In the early 60’s he was employed as an acrobatic trapeze artist in Denton before working in assembly at General Motors.  In 1970, Johnny met his lifelong partner, Mary Louise Treadwell and on August 17, 1973 they were married in Dallas, Texas. Johnny started his career at LTV in Grand Prairie where he worked as a precision pattern tool maker until retiring in 2006. For over 10 years, while at LTV, Johnny served as a Union Committeeman for Local 848. Johnny and Mary lived in numerous places before making Mansfield their permanent home. At the same time Johnny was working at LTV, he also served as a volunteer fireman for the Ferris Fire Department and was a reserve police officer for the Saginaw Police Department. Although he kept himself busy, Johnny alway found time to schedule vacations with his family. He loved the mountains of Colorado and Montana where he learned to pan for gold, a skill he enthusiastically shared with his grandchildren. Since his retirement, Johnny focused his attention on being at home and cherished time spent with his family. Johnny will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
