Gabriel Paetz

September 8, 2017 — September 17, 2017

Gabriel Alexander Paetz was born at 7:20 pm on September 8, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.  He blessed the earth with his life and love, touching so many people for 8 days and 21.5 hours.  He was a brave fighter with a strong will to live, surviving longer than 99% of babies with anencephaly.  Most of his life, Gabe cuddled in the arms of his loving Mommy and Daddy.  There was never a moment he was not being cradled.  He was a beautiful, precious, and loving son who is dearly missed.  On two different occasions, he lifted his small hands and tenderly stroked the faces and hair of his Mommy and Daddy.  We believe it was his way to communicate his love and comfort knowing his death was imminent.  During his time on earth, Gabe enjoyed listening to lullabies, hearing bedtime stories, holding the hands of both Mommy and Daddy, and snuggling up in his warm blankets.  We were blessed to have an angel even though it was too short of a time.  Gabe died in our loving arms at home and went to heaven to claim his angel wings on September 17, 2017.
Gabe is survived by his parents Denise and Jeff Paetz, his maternal grandparents Dennis and Lucy Casey, his paternal grandparents Steve and Joan Paetz, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We want to thank the countless, wonderful medical professionals that we met during this journey including Dr. Emily Maas, Dr. April Bleich, Dr. Terri Weinman, Dr. Robert Ursprung, the Labor & Delivery/Postpartum nurses and other staff at Baylor Scott & White Ft. Worth, the nurses with Community Hospice of Texas including Nancy and Allen.  Thank you to the compassionate priests Fr. David Klein and Fr. Bill Estes and their families from St. John’s Church of Ft. Worth and all the other countless individuals that were there to comfort us during this time with Gabe.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.  But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.” – Winnie the Pooh
