Obituary

Alice Marie Kandra, affectionately known as Marie, went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on June 22, 1948, Marie lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. She was a loyal wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend who always placed the needs of others before her own.

Marie found her greatest joy in her children, making sure they always felt safe, supported, and deeply loved. She was the cornerstone of her family, and her gentle spirit, generous heart, and steadfast love left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Alongside her beloved husband, John Edward Kandra, she opened her home to many, welcoming and helping raise children who became part of their extended family.

Marie was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She loved to sing God's praises, share His love with others, and speak of the joy she anticipated in one day standing before Him. She often said that one of the greatest moments she could ever experience would be seeing God face to face, singing His praises, and clapping her hands in joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Edward Kandra, and her sister, Betty Barrie.

Marie is lovingly remembered by her children, Denice (Rich) Hazelwood, Laura (Ed) Macias, and Stephen Kandra; her granddaughter, Heather Hazelwood; her great-grandchildren, William Smith and Harvey Smith; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched.

Marie was loved beyond words. Those she leaves behind carry with them the priceless gifts of her love, her faith, and the countless memories she created throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.
