Anna Jean Casbeer

July 6, 1939 — May 14, 2025

Fort Worth, Texas

Anna Jean Casbeer, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at her home in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on July 6, 1939, in San Saba, Texas, Anna lived a life filled with love, education, and service.

Anna's passion for learning led her to earn a Masters Degree in Computer Science from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. Her professional journey began at the City of Arlington in Texas, where she embarked on her first computer job. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, she partnered with a friend to establish S & S Computer Consultants. After selling her share of the business, Anna dedicated her life to education, teaching Computer Science at various institutions including Devry Institute, Yavapai College, and Howard Payne University. Her kindness and welcoming nature greatly influenced her students, and her enthusiasm for teaching was evident in every class she conducted.

Family and togetherness were at the heart of Anna's life. She cherished Christmas, adoring the songs, decorations, and gatherings that brought her loved ones together. Each year, she joyfully participated in the church Christmas program, embodying the spirit of the season with her vibrant energy and unwavering faith.

Anna's interests were as diverse as they were fulfilling. She found joy in playing BINGO several times a week, and was an avid reader; her favorite books included the enchanting "The Cat Who" series and thrilling westerns. A lover of travel, Anna embraced every opportunity to experience new cultures and expand her horizons.

In addition to her professional accomplishments and hobbies, Anna’s greatest legacy lies within her family. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie and Jay Turner of Saginaw, Texas; Beth Skaggs; and Sherry Skaggs of Phoenix, Arizona. Her brother Glen Casbeer resides in May, Texas, while her sister Kokey Casbeer calls Fort Worth, Texas home. Anna will also be remembered fondly by her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Gary Collins of Aurora, Texas, and a vibrant lineage of grandchildren—Misty McLamore, James Ragsdale, Sam Ragsdale, Cynthia Turner, Andrew Blair, Sara Blair, Matthew Skaggs, and Kellie Wright—along with ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Julia Casbeer, and her siblings Nancy, Dean, Bill, and Tina. Each of them remembered her fondly, and her influence will continue to resonate through their lives.
