Bettie Willoughby

January 14, 1929 — November 9, 2018

Burleson

Bettie “Lois” (Hodge) Willoughby was born to Robert Lee Hodge “Popeye” and Susie Ruth Hunt, in Athens, Texas on January 14, 1929. She entered Heaven’s gates on November 9, 2018. She was known best by all who knew and met her as “Lois”.

A loving mother and homemaker, Lois was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays and for her children who were away in the military when they would return home with their families to visit. On the holidays we will all miss her dressing, sweet potatoes, hot rolls and her love. She loved to dance and listen to country music; she also enjoyed listening to gospel music and especially live bluegrass music outdoors with one of her closest dearest friends T.E. Self. She also loved raising chickens and sitting for hours watching them forage around the yard. She was also a devoted Christian who loved to attend church avidly and made it a point to bring family and friends with her regularly. If family or friends were in need of consolation or someone to confide in they always knew she was there for them!

Lois was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Willoughby, she was also predeceased by brother Alvie Hodge and his wife Ann, daughter Bobbie Ferguson wife to Joe Ferguson, son-in-law A. G. Row husband to her daughter Johnnie Row, grandson Rob Row, granddaughter Karen Row, and her dearest friend T.E. Self.

Lois is survived by her sister Doris Elwood, brother Horace Hodge and children her daughter Johnnie Row,  son-in-law Joe Ferguson, son Paul Weatherford and his wife Martha, daughter Robin Parras, son Robert Weatherford. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Avonda Row, Cheryl Hanson, David Ferguson, Shawna Miller, Brandon Weatherford, Heather Ramirez, Vanessa Parras, Crystal Parras, Korinne Weatherford and Joy Weatherford. She had nineteen great-grandchildren, Stephen Gudka, Laura Strzeleki, Erica Gudka, Ryan Gudka, Ashley Lawson, Amber Kane, Alec Row, Janelle Hanson,

Darby Richhart, Robert (Bobby) Hanson, Natalie Oliver, Rose Miller, Amber Miller, Stephen Miller, Gideon Miller, Ruth Miller, Eli Miller, Sienna Pontremoli, Peyton Weatherford, Brooklynn Weatherford and four great-great-grandchildren, Grace Strzeleki, Arnold Strzeleki, Abigail Strzeleki, Matthew Lawson and several nieces and nephews and her little companion, her Pomeranian puppy Simba.

Nothing can ever take away, the love a heart holds dear. Fond memories linger every day, remembrance keeps her near.
