Billie Caruthers

Billie Marie Atchison Caruthers, 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend took the hand of our Lord peacefully, in her home, surrounded by family on Sunday, December 30,2018.  Arrangements will be at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale.  The viewing will be Friday, January 4, 6-8PM, and the funeral on Saturday, January 5 at 2PM.

Billie was a member of First Baptist Church of Kennedale.  She attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated from Texas Christian University in the field of Home Economics.  Billie taught at the high school in Mansfield ISD.  She fulfilled a dream to give back to her community by giving life skills to the youth.  Things that make a difference in young people’s lives.  In her classes, she taught sewing and clothing care, budgeting, meal preparation, dating and relationships, childcare, and helped arrange for individual jobs for her students, so they could better themselves.  She was a very caring person, and took the needs of her students seriously .  She made her home warm and inviting to entertain family and friends She wanted family members and friends to always be together during the holidays at her house.  She loved her family.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ila Atchison, siblings: Thomas “Son” Atchison, Daniel Atchison, Josephine Lee, Christine Long, and Faye Atchison (infant sister.)  Survivors: loving husband Adrian; daughter Cathy; son, Alan and wife, Cindy; son, David and wife, Brenda; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many other loved ones and friends.
