Obituary

Brenda Carol Weidel

May 25, 1952 – October 18, 2026

Brenda Carol Weidel, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 25, 1952, to Glenn and Ruth Matthias, Brenda lived a life marked by extraordinary love, unwavering faith, and a legacy that will continue through the generations she touched.

Above all else, Brenda loved Jesus with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in the way she loved others, cared for her family, and touched the lives of those around her. She embodied the heart of the Proverbs 31 woman, a woman of strength, dignity, wisdom, and kindness whose life was a testimony to her love for the Lord. Her faith was more than something she professed; it was something she lived each day.

Brenda had a beautiful love for music and a God-given musical ability that became another expression of who she was. Along with her faith, her love and musical gifts left lasting impressions on those blessed enough to know her. Her life was a beautiful melody of faith, family, kindness, and love, and the song of her life will continue to echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

To her three daughters, Becky, Jana, and Jocelyn, she was Momma—a source of love, comfort, wisdom, and encouragement. To her fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson, she was MiMi, a cherished and irreplaceable presence in their lives. Her influence reached far beyond her own family, touching people across generations. She had a way of making people feel loved, and those who knew her were blessed by the warmth of her heart and the example she set.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ruth Matthias; her husband, Alton Weidel; and her son, Jeremy Weidel.

She is survived by her three daughters: Becky (James) Shurley of Godley, Texas; Jana Monroe of Arlington, Texas; and Jocelyn (Chris) Pethtel of Fremont, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson, along with many other family members and dear friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing her.

The loss of Brenda leaves a space that can never truly be filled. It is difficult to imagine a world without her in it, but those who loved her can find comfort in the hope she held so dear—the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Though her earthly voice has fallen silent, the faith she lived, the love she gave, and the music she shared will continue to live on through the generations she influenced.

Brenda's life was a gift, her love a legacy, and her faith an example for all who knew her. To have called her Momma or MiMi was a blessing beyond measure, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.
