Carl Douglas Polly, 87, passed away on 23rd of December, 2020 at Pecan Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Kennedale. He was born on December 5, 1933 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to James Ellis Polly and Lucille Ables Polly.
Doug grew up in Whitesburg. He graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1951. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served for 2 years. He served in the Korean War and was discharged honorably in 1954.
Doug worked in the oil fields in New Mexico, Texas, and off the coast in Louisiana. His last years employed were with J Piner Powell.
Doug married Juanita Tull in 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were married for 25 years. Doug was a member of Deer Creek Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed country dancing and at one time had his pilot’s license to fly private planes.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Lucille Polly, and his brothers Donald Polly, Harold Polly, and Porky Polly.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Dale, and his two sons Douglas and Rodney, grandchildren Kristina, Shandra, Derek, Rachel, Bradley, Alisha, Brandon; Linda, his great-grandchildren; and sister, Shandra Polly Bishop.
A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale, Texas at 6 pm on December 28. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 11 am, on December 29. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery.
