Cecelia Annette Young Sulak, lovingly known as Sissy, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, surrounded by her family in Weatherford, Texas. Born on June 14, 1939, in Waco, Texas, Sissy was the youngest of 10 children. After completing her education at Reichers High School, she moved to Arlington, building a life dedicated to her family.
In the face of adversity, Sissy opened an in-home day care in 1984 to provide for her three young children. Her perseverance and unwavering spirit were defining characteristics throughout her life. In 1988, she began a career as a Records Clerk with the Arlington Police Department, where she diligently served the community until her retirement in 2011.
Sissy's family was the heart of her existence. She found joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her face would light up at the sight of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These moments filled her life with happiness. She cherished going to Texas Rangers games with her granddaughters and spent countless hours watching them on TV. Another love of hers was spending time fishing with her nieces in Mineola.
As a devout Catholic, Sissy regularly attended St. Maria Goretti in Arlington, a testament to her faith and dedication to her spiritual community. She was proud of her accomplishments, most notably her children and grandchildren, and left a legacy of love, resilience, and faith.
Sissy is survived by her son, Brian Sulak; her son, Greg Sulak, and wife Jennifer; her grandchildren Alyson Sulak Rogers and husband JJ, Julia Sulak, Nathan Sulak, Jarren Sulak, and Courtney Ringo. Additionally, her great-grandchildren Aiden Rogers and Lucas Mann.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Anita Sulak Ringo; her father, John C. Young; her mother, Anna Huber Young; her brothers John Young, Joseph Young, Clarence Young, B.W. Young, Raymond Young, Herbert Young, and F.M. Young; as well as her sisters Mary Ann Young and Dorothy Young.
A memorial service celebrating Sissy's life will be held on June 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas, with an inurnment to follow at 2:15 PM.
Cecelia Annette Young Sulak will be remembered for her loving spirit, devotion to family, and the meaningful connections she fostered throughout her life. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
