A proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, Charles honorably served from June 15, 1951, to June 14,1954, during a time when national service was both a privilege and a responsibility. For his dedication, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, reflecting his commitment to duty and excellence.
Professionally, Charles was known for his expertise and hard work as a retired engineer specializing in stress analysis at Bell Helicopter. His technical knowledge and innovative spirit contributed significantly to the aerospace industry, earning him profound respect among his colleagues.
Charles received his education at Meridian High School and later graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in engineering. This academic foundation fueled his lifelong passion for learning and problem-solving, which he carried throughout his career.
Beyond his career, Charles was known for his generous and giving nature. He regularly donated to a variety of charities, exemplifying his belief in supporting others and making a positive impact in the community. He was often seen enjoying his favorite pastimes, which included mowing the lawn and swinging on the front porch, simple moments that brought him joy and peace.

Charles is survived by his stepchildren: James Kepper (wife Deborah), Angela Kepper, and Suzie Ivy, who carry forward his love and legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lewis Wells and Mary Lee Henton, and his beloved wife of 24 years, Norma Monienne Wells, who together created a beautiful life filled with love and mutual respect.
A visitation to honor Charles will be held on September 20, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM.
