Arlington

Christine Ellen Whiting, fondly known as Chris, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, after a courageous ten-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on January 3, 1948, in Frankfort am Main, Germany, Christine moved to the United States, where she would eventually call Queensbury, New York, her home. She graduated from Queensbury Senior High School in 1966 and went on to build a fulfilling career.

Following her education, Christine dedicated over three decades of her professional life to the telecommunications industry. She began her career with notable companies, including Scott Paper Company, General Electric, and New York Telephone. Most significantly, Christine served Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) in Dallas, Texas, for 31 years until her retirement. Afterward, she contributed her talents to Nieman Marcus Direct, from which she retired in 2014.

Christine's passions extended beyond her professional endeavors. A talented crafter, she enjoyed various handicrafts such as sewing, needlepoint, and cross stitch. She took great joy in creating layettes and christening gowns for newborns, generously donating many of her creations to local hospitals for infants in need. Additionally, Christine cherished leisurely hours spent browsing bookstores and Christmas shops.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Alfred J. Whiting, Jr., and her devoted son, A. James Whiting III, both of Arlington, Texas. The family circle also includes her brother Peter Harrington; her sisters Pam Harrington and Kim Mc Gourty of Queensbury, New York; and brothers-in-law William Whiting (Deborah) of Rockport, Massachusetts; Michael Whiting of Potsdam, New York; and Christopher (Bessie Lee) of San Francisco, California. Christine's legacy further includes several nieces, nephews, and cousins who hold fond memories of her.

Christine was predeceased by her parents, Ruth (Ehrentraut) and Glenn Harrington of Queensbury, New York, and her sister-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) Whiting of Potsdam, New York.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Avalon Memory Care in Arlington, Texas, for the compassionate care Christine received during her final years, as well as to the staff at Methodist Hospital Mansfield and Hospice Plus for ensuring her comfort in her final days.

A visitation will be held in Christine's honor on May 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas. This will be followed by a graveside service that begins at 11:00 AM and concludes at 11:30 AM.
