Mrs. Dessie Matthews

CROWLEY -- Dessie Marie Matthews, 89, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
Her grandsons will honor her as pallbearers for her service.
She was born to John P. and Myrtle Williams in Harrold on Oct. 6, 1918. They lived in Vernon, then moved to Fort Worth in 1952. She spent her lifetime doing for others, accepting all for who they were. She showed everyone who knew her what unconditional love was about. She had a very quick wit and looked for the best in others. Her strength was in her unflinching faith in the goodness of the human spirit. Her legacy is the lesson of that faith which remains with all who knew her. We will hold her in our hearts forever.
She served in the International Toastmistress and Eastern Star She held many offices in each. She had a passion for painting and the beauty of the world on her canvas.
Survivors: Her children, Jerry and Lonnie Haire, Mary Ann Wiley, Billy and Kumiko Haire and Brenda and Al Lewis; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Williams; sister, Alma Lee Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
