Elsie Fay Thompson Rittenberry, a beloved waitress and child caretaker, left this world on November 18, 2025, at the age of 87, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on June 9, 1938, in Ralls, Texas, Elsie radiated warmth and love, touching all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Elsie displayed an unwavering commitment to caring for others. She raised and adopted many children as her own, including Scottie James, Billy James, Robert McGregor, and Stevens McGregor, giving them the nurturing, stable environment they needed to thrive. Her incredible ability to connect with children showcased her innate loving personality, making her a cherished figure not only to her "adopted" family but to countless others in the community.
Elsie's legacy is enriched by her strong family ties. She leaves behind a devoted brother, Earl Jr. Rittenberry, sisters Virginia Elliot and Martha MacGregor, and sons Edwin Dean Franks, Connie L. Dole, Theresa Franks, Velma Ruth McFarland, and Robert Franks. She will also be deeply missed by her three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will carry forward the love she so freely gave.
Elsie was preceded in death by her brothers W.J., James Edward, and James Clinton, along with her son Calvin Lee Franks. Their absence is felt deeply, but the memories they shared will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A visitation to honor Elsie will take place at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Kennedale, TX, on December 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will also be held at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, concluding with a burial at 12:15 PM.
As we remember Elsie, we celebrate the loving, warm spirit that defined her life. Her dedication to care for others and the countless lives she impacted will forever leave an indelible mark on our hearts. She will be deeply missed.
