Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fernando Gengis Lee Hernandez at the age of 31 on May 23, 2026.

Born on February 21, 1995, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Fernando (known to family by his middle name, Gengis) was a hardworking, intelligent, and unforgettable soul whose deep, rich laugh could fill a room. With kind eyes, a sarcastic sense of humor, and a compassionate heart, he had a way of making people feel at ease. Those who knew him best will remember his playful banter, unwavering loyalty, and willingness to help others whenever they needed him.

From an early age, Fernando was curious about the world around him. As a child, he enjoyed reading and learning, and he developed a love for music, playing the clarinet during his school years. He also played football and embraced every challenge with determination and resilience. Throughout his life, Fernando earned the respect of others through his strong work ethic and refusal to back down when faced with adversity.

Fernando enjoyed a wide range of music, from techno and alternative rock to classical compositions. He was also an avid gamer who spent countless hours playing a variety of video games, especially RuneScape, a hobby that brought him both enjoyment and lasting friendships.

He had a deep love for travel, new experiences, and great food. Among all the places he visited, San Francisco held a special place in his heart. He loved the atmosphere of the city, the beauty of the bay, and spending time watching the ocean—moments that reflected his appreciation for life’s simple but meaningful pleasures.

Those who knew Fernando will remember his sharp mind, quick wit, and stubborn confidence. He loved a good debate and could always be counted on to defend his point of view, often with a grin close behind. His larger-than-life personality brought joy to family gatherings and everyday conversations alike.

Fernando was a beloved son to his mother Maria De La Luz Hernandez and father Fernando G. Lee; a loving brother to Yang Lee and Xiao Johnson; a devoted father to his daughter, Melanie; a proud uncle to Rayden, Emmett, and Elijah; and a cherished family member and friend whose presence left a lasting light on countless lives.

Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will live on forever.
