A Life Lived with Passion and FaithWe're here today to remember a man who was many things to many people: a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. Floyd McCarty, born on May 5, 1955, in Monroe, Louisiana, carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life. It was there, as a young boy, that he first accepted Christ, a faith that would become the bedrock of his existence.Floyd's early life was shaped by his family—his parents, Lawrence McCarty and Luretha Pendleton McCarty Jones, and his siblings, Mary Louis, Ruby, James, and Michael. His journey took him from Louisiana to Kansas City, Missouri, where he attended Paseo High School and excelled in ROTC. It was also in Kansas City that he met the love of his life, Cynthia Gatson, and together, they would build a beautiful life.A decorated airman, Floyd dedicated himself to serving his country in the Air Force, traveling the world and continuing his education. After his military career, he and Cynthia settled in Texas, where they built their home and started their family. Floyd's son, Quincy, and son, Julian, were his pride and joy.Floyd was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for music and a knack for working on cars with his tools. He was also a talented writer, often reading his poems at bookstores around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. His work at General Dynamics led him to a career with the United States Post Office, but his true calling remained his faith. Always a man of God, Floyd deepened his commitment by earning a Doctorate in Theology from Southern Bible Institute and College and becoming an ordained minister. He was a man who told it like it was and stuck to his word, a testament to his character and integrity. He loved God and lived his life in a way that reflected that love.Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia; his sons, Quincy and Julian (Whitney); his grandchildren, Cynsier, Sydni, Judah, and Josiah; his great-grandchildren, Jaliyah and Jalen Jr.; his sister, Ruby McCarty Robinson; and his brothers, James Lawrence McCarty and Michael McCarty. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence McCarty; his mother, Luretha Pendleton McCarty Jones; and his sister, Mary Louis McCarty Douglas. We will miss Floyd's presence, his wisdom, and his unwavering faith. Let us remember him not with sadness, but with gratitude for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind.
