Franklyn Robert Palmer

February 24, 1951 — December 17, 2025

Franklyn Robert Palmer, 74, was born on February 24, 1951 to Verita Myrie Palmer and Frank Palmer. He died on December 17, 2025, due to health issues.

Franklyn graduated from Maypen Central High School and attended the Methodist Church in Maypen before he migrated to United States to seek new opportunities. He fell in love with his beloved wife, Rita, whom he married soon thereafter. They resided in New York before relocating to Texas. Franklyn retired from careers in print production and hospitality. He took great joy in meeting new people and serving their needs.

Franklyn is survived by his daughters Tiffany Palmer, Janice Brown and Claudia Johnson, five grandchildren—Taylor Collins, Anthony Johnson, Jamila Johnson, Kayla Hicks, and Kamau Johnson, and his great‑grand daughter Diamond Johnson.

One of Franklyn’s greatest joys was DJing rocksteady reggae; he and Rita, loved hosting family and friends and filling long evenings with music. He took pride in caring for his home, often spending Saturday’s cleaning, doing laundry, and helping with household chores.

Franklyn enjoyed both watching and participating in sports. He was the resident table tennis champion at the Maypen Fire Station; many players came to challenge him, and he defeated them all. He loved watching professional tennis, cricket, soccer, football, basketball, track and field with his wife, and they often debated who the greatest player of all time was.

An avid swimmer, he delighted in weekend trips to the pool with Tiffany, whose love of the water grew under his guidance. Above all, he was a devoted father whose generosity knew no bounds; if he had it to give, his answer was always yes.

Franklyn leaves behind his sister Doreen Smikle, two nieces Danette Smikle, Donna Smikle and brother Errol Lue. Franklyn’s siblings by marriage were Fay and Alfred Deleveaux, and Collette Woodfox, Kenroy and Beverly Duncan and Maurice and Verita Duncan, and one son-in law Daron Brown, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Franklyn is proceeded in death by his parents, Verita and Frank Palmer and his beloved wife, Rita Palmer.
