Garth Madison Griggs

Garth Madison Griggs, 86, passed away on September 11, 2023, at his home in Fort Worth, Tx. He was born on January 22, 1937, in Gilmer, Tx, to George Monroe Griggs and Mary Grace Robertson.

Garth Grew up in Gilmer, Tx. He was the youngest of 11 children. Garth left school after the 3rd grade. After school, he worked various farm jobs until he moved to Fort Worth, Tx at the age of 14.

Garth joined the Army National Guard in 1952 and served for 2 years as a medic. He was honorably discharged. He began work for Coke-A-Cola as a truck stocker where he worked for 2 years. He then moved on and worked at Spinks airport as a Ground Forman for 10 years. After working At the airport, Garth began his sheetrock career and worked for Pride Drywall for 25 years.

Garth married Joy Estelle Price in 1984. They were happily married for 39 years. Garth was a member of Livingwater Church in Kennedale. He enjoyed working in his yard at home, and going to trade days  to find antique collectibles for his shed.

Garth was preceded in death by his mother and daddy, daughter, Melba Grace Byrd; son, Garth Madison Griggs Jr; and his 10 siblings.

Garth is survuved by his spouse, Joy Griggs, of Forth Worth, Tx; daughter, Sonya Berry; son, Wally Lovell; grandson Freddie L. Tebo and wife Stephanie Tebo; great granddaughter, Emily Madison Tebo, and great grandson Freddie Tebo III.

A viewing will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home on September 22, 2023 from 9:00am - 11:00am. A funeral service will immediately follow.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Elvita Ortiz and family, for all the love and support, as well as, the entire family for all of their prayers.

Garth was a man God, faith, love, and joy. He cherished his family and friends. God bless you all.
