FORT WORTH -- Hallie Lee "Memaw" Bowman, 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, April 3, 2007, while visiting in Houston.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Birdville Baptist Church, Haltom City. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.
She was born June 9, 1924, in Farmersville to Homer and Nettie Kennedy. She married Willard L. Bowman in December 1940 and they moved shortly thereafter to Fort Worth. She co-owned a beauty shop on Jennings Street in Fort Worth for many years. She was a member of Birdville Baptist Church in Haltom City. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. Her life revolved around her family, friends and her dog, Classie. She was always there to help in times of need, or to those with an illness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; sisters, Cleo, Queen, Velma and Irene; and brothers, J.C. and R.D. Kennedy.
Survivors: Her sister, Iris Weatherred of Kansas; son, Leon and wife, Kathleen Bowman; daughter, Shirley and husband, James Whitley; granddaughter, Cynthia and husband, Mike Harbison; grandsons, Clifford Bowman, Michael and wife, Sherri Whitley; great-grandsons, Bo, Brant and Blake Whitley; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
