Kennedale

Herbert “Herb” Davis, 82, passed away on March 17, 2024, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas to OB and Opal (Hinson) Davis.

Herb grew up in Grandview, Texas and later moved to the Arlington/Mansfield area, where he attended Mansfield High School. In Herb’s younger years, he worked in the mobile home manufacturing business. He then went on to work in various construction trades. Herb was also a musician and played in various bands in the evenings and on the weekends. In the ‘70s, he began working in the metal construction business. He eventually started and owned his own commercial metal roofing business, Davis and Evans Construction, until he retired.

Herb was married to Linda in Arlington, Texas in 1958. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Herb enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, going to the car races, and giving the great grandchildren rides on the golf cart. He loved playing the bass guitar and jamming with his friends. He could often be found outside on the porch spending time with his family and friends.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, OB and Opal Davis; siblings Edna, Mary Elizabeth, OBC, Carolyn, Judy, Audrey and son, Jerry Lee Davis Sr. Herbert's wife, Linda, departed to join him 6 days after his passing.

She stayed home raising her children until the mid ‘70s when she began working outside the home in the hose and fitting manufacturing industry. She worked her way up to becoming a lead manager until she quit to become secretary/treasurer of the family business, Davis and Evans Construction. They eventually moved their business to their home so that she could raise and take care of their grandchildren while still being able to do the office work.
