James Franklin Guffey, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Prairie, TX on February 14, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1965, in Ft. Worth, TX to Leon and June Pursley Guffey. He grew up in Arlington, TX and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1984. Although raised in the city, James loved being outdoors every weekend at the family farm in his younger years. Later in life, he enjoyed fishing, barbecuing and many other outdoor activities, including going to Texas Ranger baseball games every chance he got. He was a trusted friend, colleague, and supervisor to his coworkers at International Paper for 38 years where he was well loved and respected. James is survived by his beloved fiancé Lisa Cronin, daughter Aubrey Lee Gore, granddaughters Kaytlyn and Madelyn of South Carolina, sister Nancy Scott of Arlington, niece Lauren Scott and grandniece Harper of Killeen, nephew Matthew Scott of Mexia, several cousins and extended family members, and hundreds of loving friends from throughout his life. There will be a brief visitation for family and friends at 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
