Joe Bailey Williams, 90, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at his home in Kennedale, Texas. He was born on December 22, 1932 in Fort Worth, Texas to David Williams and Mary Williams.
Joe grew up in the Oklaunion area of Texas. While attending Oklaunion High School he met and fell madly in love with Thelma Willeby. Joe and Thelma were married on March 20, 1952 and were happily married for 71 years. Shortly after they were married Joe and Thelma moved to Fort Worth. Joe was skilled with his hands, working the majority of his career as a bricklayer and house painter while also raising a family. Joe served for many years as a deacon at the Lake Church of Arlington and his passion was to introduce everyone he met to Jesus Christ.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Williams; son, Tommy Williams; granddaughter, Carrie Kwilos; and siblings, Freda Yandow, John Williams, Veda Gilson, and Bern Williams.
Those left to cherish Joe’s memories are his loving wife of seventy one years, Thelma Williams; children, Jeanne Wright and husband Terry, Janet Halvorson and husband David; grandchildren, Henry, Jordan and wife Robin, Cory and wife Dana, Luke and wife Audrey, Janell and husband Ryan, Kristin and husband Chris, Grace and husband Thomas, Esther and husband Jack; great grandchildren, Colin, Keira, Shiloh, Gabrielle, Judah, Taryn, Amelia, Ariah, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home at 2PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060) with interment to follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM at Emerald Hills Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Wright, Jordan Halvorson, Luke Halvorson, Chris Gildea, Ryan Johnson, Cory Wright.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made Lake Church of Arlington, Texas at https://www.lakechurchdfw.org/give designated for the Matamoros Children’s Home.
