John Allen Cullen was born to Dennis and Coyleen Cullen at Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1954. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan moving to Ovid, Michigan (mid-Michigan) when Dennis, John’s Dad, was promoted to Superintendent of the Ann Arbor Rail Road in 1970. John was one of four generations to work in railroad transportation. John graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School and then attended Western Michigan University where he graduated with General Business and Marketing degrees. While at WMU, John was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
John spent his entire career in Packaging Printing and Pharmaceutical Packaging. He served in roles ranging from plant start-up to leading a national salesforce to handling many important packaging needs for global pharmaceutical companies.
John was raised Roman Catholic and attended Catholic school and public school. At the age of 38 he became a born-again Christian. He attended Church at Frisco First Baptist most recently and, previously, CrossRidge Church where he helped facilitate Men’s Bible Study small group.
John loved two things in particular: Hockey and Martial Arts. He coached hockey for a period and studied four different Martial Arts during his lifetime, recently teaching seniors in his residential community. After retirement, John discovered a love for service. He very much enjoyed devoting his time as a hospice volunteer, working at the local food bank, and helping disadvantaged children unlock their potential through literacy with Reading Partners.
John is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Debra, his son, Mike (Hannah), step-daughters Stacy Dennis (Russell) and Melissa Summerlin (Joshua), and grandchildren Jackson, Trevor, Andrew, Tessa, Lyla, and Violet.
