Laurine Mae Wood was born on October 22, 1931 in Independence, Missouri and passed away on May 4, 2018 after a long battle with dementia.  She was 86.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Robert L. Wood; her parents Porter McCarroll, Julia (Winegar) McCarroll, and Jessie McCarroll; her sister Betty Ann (McCarroll) West; and her daughter Karen Sue Boyer. Laurine is survived by her sister Joan Bowman of Missouri; her children Deborah Miller of Ohio, Edward Miller of Missouri, Douglas Wood of Missouri, Julia Butler of Texas; her ten grandchildren and ten  great-grandchildren.

As a young woman Laurine loved riding motorcycles with her friends and won various skill and endurance contests. Her interests also included water-skiing, square dancing, and flying her Cessna airplane. She enjoyed fishing and hunting in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri.  She worked as a cosmetologist out of her own home during this time.

In her midlife, Laurine worked in California for a number of years as a computer component welder for National Cash Register.  When Laurine moved to Texas, she was a wife and stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed sewing, camping, and spending time at the lake with her family.

Laurine will be remembered by her children and loved ones as an adventurous spirit with a great zest for life.
