Leta Lafay (Thorp) Ver Hulst, 77, passed away on October 18, 2022 at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. She was born on March 29, 1945 in Greenville, Texas to Atton and Wilma (Smith) Thorp.
Leta grew up in Celeste and Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Polytechnic Senior High school in Fort Worth, Texas in 1964. She was married four times with one child in the second marriage (Derrick). During her third marriage she had three children (Regina Troy and Mark). She graduated from California State Polytechnic University with a BA in Public Relations in Pomona, California and graduated from University of Nevada, with a MBA in Public Relations in Las Vegas, Nevada. She began work for California State Polytechnic University as a graphic artist where she worked for 3 years in Cal. She worked for the Plaza hotel & Casino as assistant to the Promotion Director for four years. She then worked for the Las Vegas Hilton hotel & Casino as executive secretary for 11years. Moved to Tucson 2001 she began working for Bernard Haldane Associates as a career counselor for four years. She retired in 2008 and moved to Texas and was involved in American Business Woman Association (ABWA).
Leta married Ron in 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were happily married for 38 years. She enjoyed photography. She also received awards and ribbons.
Leta was preceded in death by her parents (Atton Wilma) brother (Jimmy) son (Derrick).
Leta is survived by her spouse, Ronny of Muskegon Heights, Michigan; daughter, Regina (Nick), Bellamy; sons, Troy (Christie), Kleweno of Redmond, Washington, Mark (Roxanne) Kleweno of Burleson, Texas; step daughter, Ronda (Doran), Sinke Muskegon of Heights, Michigan; grandchildren, Daphne, Dharma, Kolten, Ariana, Sean, Shane, Kayda, CarrieMae, and Parker.
A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublett Road Kennedale, Texas) at 2:00pm on Friday, October 28, 2022. The family will receive friends for visitation at Emerald Hills Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery.
