Lewis Scott Tate, 70, passed away Sunday September 21st, 2025 at his home. He was born to Vern and Evah Tate.

Scott grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1973. He attended Tarrant County Junior College of Fort Worth, TX. He went onto graduate from the Fort Worth Police Academy in March of 1980.

Scott married the love of his life, Judy, on June 3rd, 1977. They were married for 44 years and had two children Bradley and Shari.

Scott was a Police Officer with the Fort Worth Police Department for 31 years, where he was known by his fellow officers as Scotty. He worked as a patrol officer for 15 years and as a K9 officer for 16. He was a Fort Worth Police Department Medal of Valor recipient. He also received many other awards and accommodations throughout his career. After retiring he went onto at the Colonial Country Club as security for 5 years.

Scott was a faithful member of Pleasantview Baptist Church of Arlington, TX. He served as Deacon for many years, was over the video production for many faithful years, and volunteered wherever needed. 

Scott was a Leader in the Boy Scouts of America program. He was a member of the Arlington Sportsman Gun Club and also served as Ranger Officer.

Scott is preceded in death by his Father Vern Tate, his mother Evah Tate, and his wife Judy Tate.

Scott is survived by his son Bradley Tate; his daughter Shari Tate; his brother Marty Johnston and wife Kathy; his brother Tommy Tate and wife Allyson; his brother Max Tate; his bother-in-law Milton Ray Mitchell Jr. and wife Jeanne; his brother-in-law Gerald Mitchell and wife Martha; his brother-in-law Robert Mitchell; his nieces and nephews other relatives as well his Church family.
