Obituary

Ligia B. Casablanca

January 15, 1933 — January 17, 2026 Kennedale, Texas

Ligia B. Casablanca passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in the cozy town of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, on January 15, 1933, Ligia often spoke fondly of her childhood—walking to the plaza, church, school, theater, and local stores. She was a mischievous girl who delighted in playing harmless pranks on the nuns, and bringing laughter to those around her, a joy that stayed with her throughout her life. She believed in enjoying life and the many blessings God provided. She found joy in being out and about and trusted the Lord to care for every worry.

Ligia lived a life marked by love, dedication, and strength. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. Her kindness, deep faith, and wisdom touched everyone who knew her.

She shared a beautiful marriage of over 70 years with her beloved husband, George J. Casablanca. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising five children and creating a home filled with love, perseverance, and deep faith.

As a mother, Ligia was encouraging and supportive, always reminding her children to believe in themselves and reassuring them that they could achieve anything they set their hearts to. As a grandmother, she was hands-on and generous with her love, joyfully spoiling her grandchildren and listening to every story with delight. She was her children’s number one fan—always cheering them on, supporting them, and celebrating their lives.

Ligia was the matriarch of the family, always keeping everyone united through love, strength, and grace. She fought the good fight with courage and faith. Her favorite Bible verse reflected the way she lived her life: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35b).

A devoted believer in Christ, Ligia now rejoices in the presence of the Lord alongside her beloved husband. Her faith is beautifully echoed in the words she cherished: “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Ligia was preceded in death by her parents, Geronimo Baez and Julia Ramirez; her siblings, Nelson Baez, Gladys Baez de Cruz, and Ferdinand Baez; and her beloved husband, George J. Casablanca.

She is survived by her brother, Wilson Baez; her sister-in-law, Virginia Casablanca de Romaguera; her children, George Casablanca, Jose Casablanca, Jaime A. Casablanca, Julio F. Casablanca, and Ligia Casablanca-Krinn; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Her love will remain with us always.

The family would like to thank all those who have offered prayers, love, and support during this time.

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Kennedale (Kennedale, TX) on January 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In honoring Ligia’s wishes, the family encourages attendees to avoid wearing black.
