Linda Sue Mitchell

Linda Sue Cornell Mitchell, 77, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 5:45 AM in Irving, TX. She was born on September 9th, 1945, in Fort Worth, TX, to Thomas Edward Cornell Sr. and Helen Marie Holland Cornell.

Linda grew up in River Oaks, Texas. Where she graduated from Castleberry High School in December of 1963. Linda worked in the payroll department of Frito Lay for several years. She then went on to work as Payroll Manager at NCH Corporation in Irving, TX. After retiring from NCH, she became bored at home and decided to go to work at the library since she loved reading so much. She later retired from the City of Irving Library as Circulation Manager, after 20 years in July of 2020. Linda attended First Baptist Church of Irving.

Linda married Fredie Henderson Mitchell Jr. in September 1964, in Fort Worth, TX. They were happily married for 59 years. Linda enjoyed reading books and working in her garden. Her greatest joy was of course, her beautiful family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Edward Cornell Sr. and Helen Marie Cornell; her oldest brother Thomas Edward Cornell Jr.; and her son Andrew Henderson Mitchell. 

Linda is survived by  her spouse  Fredie Henderson Mitchell Jr. of  Irving, TX;  her daughter Angela Marie Mitchell Rodgers and spouse James  of  Irving, TX;  her brother Timothy Cornell and spouse Robbie of  Jacksonville, NC;  her grandson Benjamin Andrew Mitchell and her granddaughters Katherine Nell Mitchell Shirley and spouse Trenten, and Elizabeth Anne Mitchell;  her great-grandchildren  Madison Denise Mitchell and Harper Lee Mitchell; several nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home: 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd. in Kennedale TX at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 16th, 2023. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, where the family will be greeting friends and relatives, Thursday, June 16, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
