Margaret Akinfenwa

October 21, 1927 — May 24, 2018

Mama Akinfenwa was born and blessed to her parents in October 21, 1927 into a very strong Christian devoted home in Lockland, Ohio.  Mama was the oldest daughter of three.

She attended Burress Temple Church of God Militant Pillar and Ground of the Truth an Apostolic church in Lockland, Ohio where she served and participated in several roles in the church one of which was singing in the choir.  Mama and her two sisters had the pleasure of singing so much that they formed a singing group and were the favorites in all the community churches throughout Lockland and Cincinnati.  They were well known for their anointing breaking of the yoke songs that rocked the churches.  People came to know Jesus Christ and their lives were changed for good by listening to them sing.

Mrs. Akinfenwa attended Perfecting Church in Detroit where Bishop Marvin Winnans is the Pastor.  She served as an usher in the sanctuary, Mother Board, faithfully attended Bible study sessions, was involved in Detroit World Outreach Christian Center Church, strong prayer warrior and strongly filled with the Holy Spirit.

Mama was heavily involved in the ministry of Baptist Missionary Headquarters which she and her children attended Orita-Mefa Baptist Church, was a Sunday School Ministry under Reverend James Bowered (Senior Pastor of the church and president of Baptist Convention in Nigeria at that time.)

In 1945, mama attended Wilberforce State University in Dayton, Ohio and graduated in 1951 with her first degree, masters with high honors in English and Literature in her class.  It was on campus that she met and fell in love with the love of her life and later got married to Papa Akinfenwa in 1952 which they both with the grace of God stayed married for fifty two blessed, glorious and beautiful years with wonderful godly children before papa went home to glory on April 21, 2004.

Mama Akinfenwa was a lifelong proponent of education where she served and taught in several schools in Nigeria for quite a bit.  Some of the schools that she served were Ahamadiya Grammar School Agege Lagos, Isabatudin Girls Grammar School Ibadan, An-Sarudin Girls Grammar School, Ahamadiya Grammar School Eleyele Ibadan, St. Mary’s Grammar School Iwo.  These are where she spent most of her professional life teaching and educating children from all walks of life.

Some of her favorite hymns were “Oh How I Love Jesus”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace”, “Blessed Assurance”, “Oh Worship the King”, and “Jesus I Love You.”  Her favorite words to live by are “if you fast, you’ll last”, “If you pray, you’ll stay”, very important “Do good and God’s goodness will find you”, “A family that prays together stays together.”

On May 24, 2018, Chief Mrs. Akinfenwa made her transition into eternity.  She is survived by wonderful, God’s fearing people and mostly loved ones.
