With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Martha Ofey Mancho (née Mofor), who was called to eternal rest on April 14, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
Born on August 23, 1956, in Santa, Cameroon, to the late Mama Rebecca Angie and Hon. Pa Sam Mofor, Martha was the third of five children in a large polygamous family. From an early age, she distinguished herself through intelligence, strength, and compassion—qualities that defined her every step in life.
Martha’s pursuit of education was marked by diligence and determination. She attended Baptist Primary Schools in Mutengene and Great Soppo Buea, then moved to Bamenda where she completed her secondary education at LCC Mankon from 1967 to 1972. Her passion for learning led her to London in 1975, where she trained as a Company Secretary at the London Pitman Institute.
In 1977, she married her devoted husband, Cho Mancho Adolf. Their union was a remarkable partnership rooted in love, respect, and shared purpose. Together, they built a home filled with faith and warmth, raising five cherished children: Akere, Shiri, Akwen, Cho, and Ngwena. Martha was also a proud grandmother to seven adoring grandchildren.
A woman of many talents and passions, Martha loved gardening, cooking, traveling, and serving others. She was a deeply faithful woman who dedicated her gifts to both her family and her community. During their 20-year tenure in Edea, she worked at the Divisional Hospital and took on significant roles in community and church life. She served as the first elder and chairlady of the Presbyterian Church in Edea and was president of multiple associations. Her leadership and humility earned her the rare honor of a commendation from the Right Reverend Nyansako of the Presbyterian Church for her instrumental role in building the church in Edea.
In 2004, Martha moved to the United States, living in Maryland before settling in Texas. She lived a life of tireless love, giving freely to others—offering counsel, nurturing relationships, and uplifting small businesses and families in need. Whether through a warm meal, thoughtful advice, or an encouraging word, Martha made others feel seen, valued, and loved.
Her final years were marked by continued devotion—working during the week in San Antonio and returning home to Arlington on weekends. Even in her quietest acts, Martha left an enduring legacy of grace, strength, and service.
Martha Ofey Mancho’s life was a testimony of faith, sacrifice, and unwavering love. She built a legacy not of riches or fame, but of lasting impact through every life she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and countless friends across continents. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, embraced by her Creator.
“A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds.”– Proverbs 31:10
Rest in peace, dear Martha. Until we meet again.
