Mary “Moomaw” Irene Curry, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on May 16, 2024, at Medical City Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She was born on February 10th, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas to Octa Mildred Miller and Clement Carden Miller.

Mary grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. As an adult, she had many jobs, but her favorites were with the Mansfield Independent School District as a bus driver, and then as the bus coordinator.  She then went on to work as a teacher at the Mother’s Day Out program at Sublett Road Baptist Church for many years where she also frequently taught Sunday School and the children lovingly knew her as Moomaw.

For the last several years she dedicated her time, energy and love to taking care of her husband, Joe Curry in his final days. Mary married Woodie Joe Curry on July 21, 1967, in Cleburne, Texas. They were married for 56 years. She enjoyed time outdoors and loved playing cards.  Mostly she enjoyed spending quality time with her family- if there was a baby to be held, she was always ready with open arms.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Clement, her mother, Octa, her sisters, Winnie Faye Boudreaux, Nina Ruth Neveu and Linda Jean Miller, her husband, Joe Curry, her son, William Jason Curry, and her daughter, Wendie Irene Curry.
