Laine was known for her vibrant spirit, particularly her love for bowling and traveling, which she pursued with passion through her experiences in semi-professional bowling. Her adventurous nature and kind-hearted demeanor endeared her to many, as she shared countless moments of joy and laughter with both family and friends.
Laine's family and friends will cherish her memory as a loving mother, grandmother, "GiGi", and a treasured sister. She is survived by her son, Thurman (Tori) Manning Jr., and her partner, Malcom Griffin, who embraced her with love throughout their years together. Laine's legacy continues through her grandchildren – Thurman Manning III, Jasmine (Terrell) Douglas, Byron Bowens Jr., and Lamar (Tiffany) Bowens – each of whom she adored deeply as well as her dedicated caregiver, Kimberly. Laine also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Evelyn Manning, Treslyn Douglas and Treighlyn-Ann Douglas whose laughter and joy lit up her life. Her sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Doddy, Jewelene Jackson, and Brindle J. (Willie) Danzey, along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives, also carry her spirit forward.
Laine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thurman Sr., as well as her parents, Fines and Alma D., and her siblings, Carl, Robert, Alma Faye, and Learene. Each of them holds a special place in her heart, and their memories will forever be cherished by those left behind.
