On July 12, 2025, Nancy Newman left for her eternal home in Heaven. She was born in Fort Worth on October 7, 1953 to Bill and Ruth Hester and grew up in southeast Fort Worth, graduating from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1972. After working as a title abstractor for several different title companies in the 1980s, she pursued a career in skin care and beauty products which lead to the establishment of her own company and aloe vera-based product lines, Aloe Secrets.
Nancy was a devout Christian, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for the last 35 years at Lake Arlington Baptist/Lake Church. She also volunteered periodically at Ronald McDonald House and The Salvation Army.
On July 10, 1986, Nancy married Mark Newman, recently celebrating 39 years of marriage in Kennedale. Since she was such an avid dog-lover, the house was home to numerous dogs over the years, usually three to five at a time. Boston Terriers and Boxers were her favorites, but there were other breeds and mixed-breeds as well. Among other signs as you enter the house are “The Dog House”, “Dogs welcome, people tolerated” and “A house is not a home without a Boston”. Her favorite birds were redbirds in memory of her mother, and flamingos in memory of her brother.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Hester, brother Dan Hester, sister-in-law Lucia Hester, and great-niece Brooke Hester. She is survived by husband Mark, daughter Kallie Newman, son Toby Poore and his wife Trisha, and grandchildren Taylor Poore and Tyler Poore.
All who met Nancy remember her loving heart, quick wit, light-hearted humor, infectious smiles and laughter, desire to teach good moral character to all, and her hair style that never changed (thank you, Jodie!). As a stay-at-home wife, mother, grandmother and dog-mom, she was a rock of stability, love and support to all. In addition to spending cherished time with Toby and Kallie, she most enjoyed summer vacations with her dad and her brother’s family on the Texas Coast near Rockport, cheering for Taylor’s volleyball teams in high school, club ball and college play at East Texas Baptist University, and cheering for Tyler’s club baseball teams. Meme loved her grandchildren dearly and was looking forward to Taylor’s upcoming marriage to Jackson Jones.
An informal come-and-go celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00, in the sanctuary of Lake Church, 2912 Little Road, Arlington, Texas 76016 (The main entry to the sanctuary is on the west side of the church).
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her honor to The Hustle to support childhood cancer research at Cook Children's Medical Center. Donations can be made at thehustlec3race.org.
