Norma Lee Shafer, 83, passed away at her home in Kennedale, TX on Saturday November 14, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. SERVICE: Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Emerald Hills funeral home at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 PM-8PM. Norma Lee Shafer was born on October 28, 1937 in Austin, Texas to Fannie and Francis Thompkins and Skeet Wheless. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend where she exemplified loyalty and resilience. She was a long-time employee of the University of North Texas CDC as a nurse, where she retired. She was dedicated to serving her community and had a passion for helping others. She will be remembered for her big heart, her zest for life and her love for God. Norma was preceded in death by her son, Daniel “Bubba” Hodges, her parents and her siblings.
She is survived by her husband: George Shafer, her Children: Betty Garner, Kathy and JR Luttrell, Pat and Brenda Kilpatrick, Michele and Gary Herron, Terry and Sam Dwiggins, and Bridget Hodges; Step-children: George Lee and Anye Shafer, Patricia and Josh Miller; Pet Children: Buster and Louise: 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grand child.
