OLLIE GRAYSON WINTERS
June 3, 1930 - May 6, 2026
Ollie Grayson Winters, 95, passed away on May 6, 2026, at his home in Kennedale. He was born on June 3, 1930, in Wellington, to Bill and Bessie Keesee Winters.
Ollie grew up in Wellington, Texas. He graduated from Sam Norwood High School in Wellington Texas. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served one year, followed by five years with the Texas National Guard. He was stationed at Fort Hood.
On a visit to Kennedale, he met his wife-to-be, Dorothy Marie Ward. They were married on July 3, 1951. They had three sons and were just a few days away from celebrating 75 years of marriage.
In Kennedale, Ollie and his brother, Paul, built and operated a service station for about five years.
In 1960, Ollie went to work for Prudential Insurance, where he ran a successful brokerage, earning many awards, vacations, and convention trips.
In 1968, Ollie was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in Deer Creek Lodge No. 510.
As a God fearing, community driven man, Ollie served as a deacon at Kennedale First Baptist Church and served on the Kennedale school board. He volunteered with meals on wheels, was an active supporter of the Kennedale Booster Club in doing so, earned the “12th Man on the Team” award. He enjoyed playing dominos at the senior center.
In 1971, the family moved to Colorado, where he found himself pumping gasoline again while earning his real estate sales license. His real estate career took off, and he eventually opened his own brokerage. He worked hard and had a very successful business while helping launch many other successful careers for those lucky enough to work for and with him.
He was a charter member of the North Metro Denver REALTOR Association. At his retirement celebration in 2003, he was recognized by the Association for his integrity and mentorship in the real estate industry.
Most importantly Ollie loved people, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and was blessed to meet and love his great-great-grandchildren. A sports fanatic, he never missed an opportunity to play or watch golf. Ollie was also a fan of the Denver Broncos and the Texas Rangers.
Ollie was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Bessie; his brothers, Paul, John, Gene, and Freddy; his sisters, Edith, June, Nova, and Amy; and by his son, Fredrick Wiley Winters.
Ollie is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his sons, Larry and Kelly and wife Kimberly; grandchildren Danny, Sherry and Michael, Casey, Rush and Rose, Jessica, Melanie and Robert; great-grandchildren Tenley, Tyler, Zander, Kasey, Kayla, and Nathan, Melody, Hunter, Nikki, Skylar, Caitlyn, and Grayson, Aidan, Taylor, Autumn, and Dane; great-great-grandchildren Jordan, Bella, Lilly, Ava; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and good friends, especially Jackie and Mike Minchew
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made IGNITE-FBC Kennedale, 309 N. Kenney Street, Kennedale TX 76060.
