Patricia Ann Aper, 77, passed away on March 26, 2024, at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Texas. She was born on April 11, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to Walter and Patricia Johnson.
She graduated from Academy Of Our Lady in Chicago, Illinois in 1964. After high school she attended Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, Texas where she received a graduate degree in Nursing in 1967.
She began work for CPC Sunrise hospital, later called Millwood hospital, as a Registered Nurse where she worked for many years. She began working at MHMRTC in late 1992 as a RN in their child and adolescent intensive services – she had a passion for working with the kids at both clinics, and she was well loved by all who knew her. She retired in 2014 after 47 years of dedication to the field of nursing.
Patricia married Norman Aper July 15, 1967, in Durant, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 56 years. Pat was a member of Advent Lutheran Church where she volunteered wherever she could and as often as she could. She enjoyed family gatherings – and watching her children and grandchildren in various activities they were involved in throughout the years. She also enjoyed sitting down with a good book, playing games on her tablet and spending quality time with her husband.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Walter Johnson, Patricia McDonnell and John McDonnell; her brothers, Walter Johnson II, Jeffery Johnson, and Peter McDonnell.Patricia is survived by her spouse Norman of Arlington, Texas; her sons, Damon (Laurie) Aper of Granbury, Texas, Darren (Dana) Aper of Haslet, Texas, and her daughter, Jennifer Hooton of Arlington, Texas; her brothers, Alan (Cathy) Johnson of Chicago, Illinois and Johnny (Sheila) McDonnell of Chicago, Illinois; her grandchildren, Jonathon (Courtney) Aper, Joseph Aper, Anna-Kate Aper, Ronin Aper, Haylee Hooton, Kaleb Aper, Corynn Aper, and Bailee Aper; her great-granddaughters, Nyla Gibson, Charlotte Aper, and Guinevere Aper; and her many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park – 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Texas 76060 at 11:00am on Friday, April 5, 2024. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, 6pm – 8pm.
