Paul Sands

August 9, 1943 — April 1, 2019

Bedford

Paul C Sands, 75, of Bedford, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior

on April 1, 2019.

He was born August 9, 1943 to Buford and Minnie Estes Sands in Pulaski, Tennessee.

He was a loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather,  brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. After graduation from Beech Hill High School Class of 1962 he worked at the Shoe Factory in Pulaski until 1964 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training in San Antonio, Texas, he was assigned to Dyess Air Force Base Abilene, Texas, where he met his wife. When his tour of duty was over as Military Police Supervisor for the Air Force he headed to Hurst Texas to apply at Bell Helicopter Textron where he had heard good jobs were available but was told they weren't hiring. Why not go to Amarillo where the new plant has job openings?  Which is what he did and worked for Bell Helicopter Textron from June of 1968 through December of 1989 when the plant in Amarillo closed, he had applied at the plant in Hurst and went to work January 1990 and retired December 31st 2009. While at Bell he did any job that was asked of him. HIs primary position was Sheet Metal Fabrication with his security clearance from the military he was assigned several times to make parts for the Presidents helicopter when it was in for servicing. The primary type of helicopter that was repaired during the over 40 years Paul was at Bell he worked on the Huey that was used during the Vietnam War era.

After work Paul had hobbies, one of which was putting puzzles together. Large ones, a thousand pieces or more and shaped ones not just square.

He also volunteered for Mission Central in Hurst. At their monthly open air food pantry, he usually could be found passing out the frozen chicken and slipping the kids a piece of candy. He also started a bike program for Mission Central. Walmart store in Hurst would donate bicycles to Mission Central in need of excessive repairs. Paul would do the repairs at his own expense, the bicycle would be returned to Mission Central to be distributed. There were children's bikes, of course but also adult bikes. These are often requested for use as transportation to work by clients.

He loves sports. He used to go to the Rangers games occasionally but always watch them on TV loudly and now his great-granddaughter Kiora, who is 14 months old is already a

fan. When someone hits the ball, she hollers and throws her hands up in the air, a true baseball fan. He loved to seeing her do that.

He was preceded in death by his parents Buford and Minnie Estes Sands, Brothers James Edward Sands,  William Charles Sands, Alton Perry(Peg )Sands and sister Mary Ann Sands Uselton.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Carol of the home, his daughter Cheryl Sands Aesoph and husband Kevin, grandsons Shelby Paul Aesoph, Dakota Lyndon Aesoph and fiancee Sally Ann La Roux all of North Richland Hills, great-granddaughter Kiora Elle Aesoph, niece Serenity Katherine Vasquez of the home. Sisters, Betty Jean Sands Garner, Dorothy (Dottie)Dean Sands of Pulaski, Tennessee  and Annie Louise Sands Davis of  Lynnville, Tennessee and brother Larry. Wayne Sands of Pulaski, Tennessee. Survivors also include

nieces, nephews, great and grand all loved.

The remaining Graduates of the 1962 Class of Beech Hill High School held a special place in his life and heart as did the ones gone on and waiting for him and you in Glory.
