Obituary

Phillip Hollis Flood, a devoted family man, respected veteran, and accomplished aviator, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his home in Arlington, Texas. He was 94 years old.

Born on May 11, 1931, in Mereta, Texas, Phillip was the son of O.Z. and Cleo Belle Flood. He spent his formative years in George West, Texas, where he graduated from George West High School. Demonstrating a commitment to furthering his education and service to his country, Phillip attended Texas Tech University before embarking on a distinguished military career.

Phillip served for four years in the United States Air Force, after which he continued his education at The University of Texas. He was subsequently commissioned into the United States Navy, where he served with distinction. His valor and dedication were recognized through several honors, including the Bronze Star and multiple Air Medals. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant, reflecting his leadership and devotion to duty.

Following his military service, Phillip transitioned to a career in commercial aviation. As an Airline Transport pilot and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), he exemplified professionalism and skill in the skies, touching many lives through his work.

Beyond his professional achievements, Phillip was an active and valued member of his church community and the Masonic Lodge, where he found fellowship and purpose.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, O.Z. and Cleo Belle Flood, and his sister, Conway Odom.

He is survived by his loving brother Joe Flood and his wife Maria Flood; his son Bret Flood; his daughter Holly Holloway and her husband Jeff Holloway; his grandson Hunter; and his great-granddaughters Harper and Emory Hall.

Phillip Flood’s life was marked by steadfast service, both to his country and community, and deep devotion to his family. His legacy of honor, dedication, and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
