Omalea “Rebecca" Ard, 91, passed away on December 4, 2021 at North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas. She was born on July 14, 1930 in Junction City, Arkansas to the late Mitchell and Julia Loftin.
Rebecca grew up in Junction City, Arkansas. She graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Arkansas in 1948. After high school she married and moved to White Settlement, Texas.
She worked for Sears Roebuck & Company in the sales department and retired after 30 years of service. She was involved with the Retired Military Wives Club for several years. She also attended the North Richland Hills Citizen Police Academy, as well as the North Richland Hills Citizen Fire Department Academy. For several years she was the neighborhood captain for the Crime Watch event that the North Richland Hills Police Department sponsored each year. She was very proud of the individuals who served her community, as well as those who served our country.
Rebecca had four siblings: a sister, Olice Jolley, brother Dewayne Loftin, the late Rahe Owen, and Lamar Loftin. She was preceded in death by her late husband Doyle Weldon Ard, who passed away in 2003. Doyle retired from the Navy after 23 years of service. Rebecca loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all she loved to travel. She traveled to several different countries. In her later years, she traveled with a group from the North Richland Hills Senior Center. They enjoyed their several various outings. Rebecca loved being a part of her community, visiting with family, and meeting new people.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carol Miller, and by her sons Barry Gilbert Jones (Debbie), Randall David Jones, and Douglas Wayne Jones (Amanda). She had 10 grandchildren and one late grandchild, Abram Cain Jones; 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home located at 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060 on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A graveside service and burial will be held at The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 9:15 A.M. on December 16, 2021.
