Roberta Agnes Blount, 90, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at Midlothian Healthcare Center in Midlothian, Texas. She was born on January 26, 1936, in Independence, Missouri, to Almanzor Allen Dawson and Elena Elizabeth Johnson Dawson.

Roberta grew up in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1954. Following high school, she attended the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating in 1957.

Roberta married Boyd Donaldson in 1956 while attending nursing school. At that time, nursing students were not permitted to be married, much less have relationships while attending school, so Roberta and Boyd kept their marriage “on the down low” for a year. After her graduation, the couple moved to Arlington, Texas, where Roberta began her nursing career.

During her career, Roberta worked on staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital, John Peter Smith Hospital, and Hugley Hospital. She also worked for the private practices of Truett C. Boles, MD and William Perryman, MD. and later as a home health nurse. Nursing was more than a career for Roberta; caring for people and helping meet their needs was her passion and an important part of who she was.

Roberta and Boyd were blessed with four children: Russell Scott Donaldson, Elizabeth Marie Donaldson, Kathy Lynn Donaldson, and Carol Anne Donaldson. Sadly, after 24 years, their marriage ended in divorce in 1982.

Years later, Roberta met Don Blount at Tate Springs Baptist Church. After many years of courtship, Roberta and Don were married in 1992. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, hard work, and the joy of building a life together. They enjoyed extensive travel and upon retirement, began a new chapter in their lives. They moved to Montalba, Texas, where they built their dream retirement home in the woods and enjoyed many wonderful years together.

Roberta loved and cared deeply for her family. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made it a point to keep up with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a prayer warrior for each one. She faithfully lifted her family up in prayer.

Roberta’s faith and love for the church were central to her life. Throughout the years, she was involved in many church ministries, including church choirs, women's ministries, and mission trips. She loved gardening and working outdoors. She also loved to travel with Don, in their RV, spending time in nature and with their close friends.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Almanzor Allen Dawson and Elena Elizabeth Johnson Dawson; her husband, Don Blount; her brother, Bill Dawson; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Dawson.

She is survived by her children, Russell Donaldson and wife Jana Donaldson, Beth Clayton, Kathy Rampy and husband Shea Rampy, and Carol Hardin and husband Craig Hardin. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Roberta is also survived by members of her late husband Don Blount’s family: his children, Terry Blount and wife Laura Blount, Christi Gause and husband Tim Gause, and Laurie Sinnema, who preceded him in death, and her husband, Jerry Sinnema. She is also survived by Don’s eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2026, at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060. The family will greet friends and relatives from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow immediately after the memorial service at Emerald Hills Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your church or to Norwood Heights Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas, Roberta’s home church.
