Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" "Grizzly" Strickland, 74, of Alvarado, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving children.
Ron was born on January 15, 1952, in Honey Grove, Texas, to William Lester Strickland and Jimmie Faye Bursby Strickland. A successful entrepreneur, Ron built and operated several businesses throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Houston. He was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and determination to provide for those he loved. Outside of work, Ron found joy in God's creation. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, and playing guitar. A gifted singer and songwriter, music was one of his greatest passions. More importantly, Ron devoted his life to serving others. His faith in Jesus Christ led him to minister in nursing homes, preach on the streets, and help feed the homeless. He believed that showing God's love meant serving people with compassion, patience and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Strickland; his children, Jason Scott Dohnalik (Susan), Leslie Renee Morgan, Ronald Wayne Strickland Jr. (Celine), Katherine Rose Calaway (Paul), Jennifer Diane Shive (Chris), and Cheryl Jean Strickland.
