Stevie Rothman

Stevie Contreras Rothman, 63, entered eternal life on April 19th, 2023, at Mansfield Methodist Center in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on June 9th,1959 in Pecos, Texas and had been a longtime resident of Arlington, Texas.

Stevie was an Airforce brat that grew up in many different U.S. States and Foreign Countries.  He graduated from Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska in 1978.  After high school he joined the Army in 1978 and served for four years.  He was honorably discharged in 1984.

He began working in Law Enforcement for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Corrections Officer and Police Officer of Protective Services where he worked for 21 years. During this time, he proudly served on the S.O.R.T team.  He retired in 2009 after 21 years. After retirement he was employed for two years as a donation’s driver for SafeHaven, a Women’s Shelter for Domestic Violence, and one year as a Lyft driver.

Stevie married Sylvia Guerrero in 1983 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They were happily married for 39 years. Stevie was preceded in death by his biological father Juan Contreras, paternal grandmother Elisa Contreras, maternal grandfather Filomeno Herrera, and maternal grandmother Petra Herrera.

Stevie is survived by his wife Sylvia and their only child, (daughter) Melissa Rothman both of Arlington, TX; his parents Jose Rothman and Erlinda Rothman from San Antonio, TX; brother Joseph (Suzanne) Rothman of Houston, TX brother-in-law, Jose (Yolanda) Guerrero of Las Cruces, NM his sister-in-law Georgina (Ray) Melendez of Vado, NM, his Fur Grand pups Honey, Cookie and Pepper; and uncles, aunts, and many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives.

A Viewing will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, Tx, beginning at 6:00pm followed by recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00pm on Friday, April 28, 2023.  The Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas.  Presentation of flags and military honors will follow.  Cremation services have been entrusted to Emerald Hills Funeral Home following services. Serving as Paul bearers will be Joseph, Giovanni, Julien and Jake (Rothman), Douglas Thamez, and Albert Guiterrez

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all family and friends who have reached out to console and assist them during this shocking and tragic time.  Stevie was a character and will be fondly remembered for his teasing, jokes, and playful nature.
