Terry R Burd, 81, passed away on April 12, 2024, in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on November 9th, 1942, in El Dorado, Kansas to Clifford and Jaunita Cranor Burd.
Terry grew up in Wichita KS. He graduated from Southeast High School in Wichita in 1960. After high school he attended college at Kansas State.
Terry began work for mobile home companies in Kansas and North Carolina, then moved to Arlington and began work for General Dynamics, later Lockheed Martin, in 1973. Where he was an engineer and manager and retired in 2008 after 35 years.
Terry married Dixie in 1964 in Wichita KS. They were happily married for 59 years. Terry was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He enjoyed genealogy, golfing, fishing and hunting. He loved the stars and even made his own telescope. He also received a patent when he worked at Lockheed Martin.
Terry was preceded in death by his mom and dad, sister Pam and son Jeff.
Terry is survived by his spouse Dixie Burd of Arlington TX; his daughter Kelly Neace and son in law Mike Neace of Arlington TX, daughter in law Kempa Burd of Anthem AZ; grandchildren Brandon Neace, Ashley Neace, Porter Burd, Presley Burd great-grandchildren Emory Neace; and his niece Tami Libel.
A memorial service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale TX at 10am on April 20th.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Condolences may be left on Terry Burds online guest book.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of Terry’s family and friends who have made his life so rich with love. There were many good times that we will cherish, and we are glad God gave us such a loving and caring dad, Papa, and friend. Never enough time, but this is not goodbye only see you again in heaven.
