Vinita Ann Thomas, aged 90, of Kennedale, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Vinson, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Daisy Freeman (Crowley).
Vinita spent her early years in Mangum, Oklahoma, before moving to Fort Worth, Texas, where she graduated from Paschal High School in 1952. Following her graduation, she pursued further education at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, earning a degree that laid the foundation for her long and fulfilling career. Vinita devoted herself to her professional life, starting with Gilbert Carrier and Red Ball Freight as an accountant, where she dedicated 30 years of service. She later co-managed a family business alongside her husband and continued as a Senior Tax Consultant at H&R Block, eventually retiring in 2014 after 20 years with the company.
A woman of deep faith and strong community values, Vinita was involved with the Union Gospel Mission and the Kennedale Methodist Church. She also contributed her time and efforts to the Keep Kennedale Beautiful Committee. In 1951, Vinita married Charles Thomas in Fort Worth, Texas. Their loving union lasted for nearly 48 years until Charles's passing.
Vinita was an active member of the President Rebekah Lodge, reflecting her commitment to community and fellowship. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including going to the theatre, listening to 50's sock hop music, and cherishing the legendary sounds of Elvis Presley. Playing cards with friends, reading, and teaching Bible studies were among her favorite activities that brought joy to her life.
Vinita was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Daisy Freeman, as well as her brothers, Jackie and Charles Freeman. She is survived by her beloved sons, Glen (and Jane), Richard (and Grace), and Billy; her daughter, Vicki Geldard (and George); and her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Jennifer, Ashley, Katie, Richard, Billy, and Braden. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren, David, Bailey, Alexis, Haley, Hudson, Harrison, Nash, Graham, Ellie Jane, and Nora, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Vinita Ann Thomas will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, vibrant spirit, and loving nature. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.
