HURST -- Virginia Hardin Wheeler, a dovoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, following a brief battle with cancer.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Burton Purvis officiating. Interment: A private graveside service will precede the service in Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to the American Cancer Society.
Virginia was born May 2, 1920, in Kennedale to the late Albert Sidney and Lorene Moore Hardin. She started to school at age 5 in Kennedale and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1936 at age 16. Following graduation, she began working at Montgomery Wards.
Virginia and E.L. Wheeler married Sept. 25, 1939. She was a homemaker for several years prior to a long career with Houston Fire & Casualty Insurance Company.
Virginia was a member of the Fort Worth Woman's Club and a longtime member of Ploytechnic Baptist Church, now East Meadows Baptist Church.
She was a gracious lady, champion pie maker and a selfless caregiver.
The family expresses its deep appreciation to all the staff members of Manor Care who took loving care of Virginia and also to the nurses at Compassionate Care Hospice.
Survivors: Her husband of 67 years, E.L.; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Harold Stewart of Colleyville; grandchildren, Kevin Stewart of Dallas and Paige Stewart Morgan of Colleyville; great-grandsons, John Cameron and Wyatt Morgan; brother, Sidney Hardin and wife, Doris, of Fort Worth; sister, Shirley Hardin Eller of Bedford; and a host of family members and friends.
