Wanda Faye Sanford, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Grapevine Medical Lodge on Feb 14, 2024. Wanda was born to Ray and Lena Edwards of Alvord, Texas in 1929. She grew up on a dairy farm with her two sisters (and best friends), Ila Mae and Alma.
Wanda began her career in the banking industry at an early age in Alvord. She fell in love with her high school sweetheart, David Sanford Sr, and was married in August 1947. Wanda and David moved to Ft Worth and eventually Kennedale, Texas where they raised 2 sons and she continued working in banking.
She began her Ft Worth career in 1948 as a Bookkeeping clerk, advancing to Teller, Officer and eventually becoming Vice President at the new Motor Bank downtown.
Wanda and David celebrated their high school homecoming in 1994 in Alvord and were crowned Coming Home King and Queen.
Wanda and David loved to travel across the country and made several trips to their favorite Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. They loved taking the hike all the way up to Emerald Lake.
Wanda is survived by her 2 sons, David Jr and Larry; their spouses Eldon Fink and Pamela Sanford; 2 grandsons Mathew Sanford and wife Stephanie, Shea Sanford and wife Kristin, 2 great granddaughters, Madison and Sydney and 2 great grandsons, Jack and David.
