Kennedale

William Charles Moran, more lovingly known as Bill or Grandad passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the age of 87 in Fort Worth, Texas while living at the James L West Center for Dementia Care. William was born on January 14,1938 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Edward and Elizabeth Alice (Monroe) Moran.

Bill was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico, as well as Ira and Midland Texas. He attended Moy Military Catholic Boarding School in San Antonio from 6th-8th grades before moving back home to graduate from Midland High School. Bill began his studies at Texas Western in El Paso for a year while working as a draftsman. His academic career also included time at Texas Tech University for a semester while continuing to study the sciences. He took a little time off while working for a natural gas company in Midland where he met the love of his life Janice Kiker. Shortly after, they were married and moved to Austin, Texas where Bill began his adventures at the University of Texas majoring in chemistry. He was a member of academic fraternities and spent time studying and learning everything he could about his field of study while Jan worked as an administrative assistant for the Aerospace department at UT. Their time in Austin was special and held some of their most favorite memories! They attended football games and quickly became avid Longhorn fans. Bill was very dedicated to his studies and spent endless hours in the library because he loved learning! He received his degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas and immediately began working as a chemist for Dow Chemical in Lake Jackson, Texas. The young couple started a family during these early years and settled in Lake Jackson for many years to come. Bill received a promotion and began working at BASF Chemical Company as a chemist, supervisor, plant manager, and then general manager over two different plant sites. The first site was in his hometown of Lake Jackson, while the second site was in Geismar, Louisiana moving the couple from Texas to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Their ten years there were filled with joy and happiness while learning to love all things Cajun! Bill then retired from BASF and he and Janice moved back to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren which made everyone happy!

Bill married his one true love Janice Faye Kiker in 1959 and they were happily married for 59 wonderful years. He once shared at his grandson’s wedding that the secret to a happy marriage is just two words, “Yes, Dear”. Bill had a passion for golf, gambling, gardening, collecting coins and trying new recipes. His grandchildren were his pride and joy! He spent as much time as he could following them to their many activities! He continued passing his love of learning on by helping with science and math projects while always making it fun.
