Wilson Charles Geckler, 82, better known as "Bill", passed away on the afternoon of October 26, 2024. He was born on June 9, 1942 in Canton, Ohio. Bill is survived by his sister Carol Geckler, son Robert "Bobby" (Karen) Geckler, daughter Keli (Craig) Wiman, three grandchildren (Kristi, Stacey, Dawson), and one great-grandchild (Paislee). He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Smith) Geckler, mother Daisy Kathryn (Miller) Geckler, and father Robert Orson Geckler.
Our father was a drag racer, car mechanic, Mr. Fix-it, loved fishing, and raising his cows. If anyone needed help, he would be there. If you were stranded on the side of the road, our dad would be the person you hoped would stop by to help you. When something broke or something needed to be built, somehow, he could always figure out how to do it.....long before YouTube!
Once our dad stopped drag racing and decided to look for a less dangerous activity, he eventually started raising cows. The cows were meant to be an extra source of income, but, well, they kind of ended up being more like pets. He loved taking care of his cows and his ranch in South Texas. He loved to fish, even if nothing was biting. He was a patient person. Our dad also had some sort of animal magic. If he was in a room with a dog or cat, the animals were drawn to him. It was normal to see a pet in his lap, especially his cat Flash. He loved animals.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, willingness to help others, easy going personality, and amazing smile.
