Alfredo Perales Jr, 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 10, 2021 in Mansfield, TX. He was born on July 26,1932 in Alice, TX to Alfredo Sr. and Margarita Villarreal Perales. Alfredo was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dolores Perales Gonzales, and wife of 65 years, Elva Perales.

Alfredo grew up in Alice, TX and while in high school was recognized as the leading rusher as half-back for the Alice Coyotes. He joined the Navy at the age of 18, where he served on the U.S.S. Iowa Battleship during the Korean War. In addition to serving his country, Alfredo represented the U.S.S. Iowa in lightweight boxing and baseball competitions. After serving in the Navy for 4 years, Alfredo returned to Alice, TX and married the love of his life, Elva Estella Guerra on May 14, 1956. They lived in Alice where Alfredo worked at the Kinney Shoe Store, Jim Wells County Commissioners, and the US Post Office as a City Carrier. In 1969, Alfredo and his family moved to Arlington, TX where he continued his career with the US Post Office until he retired after 31 years of service at the age of 60. After retirement, he joined his wife Elva in working as a handicap school bus assistant for Arlington ISD for eight years.

Alfredo was a good husband, proud father, loving grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, classic cars and doing woodwork in his workshop, specializing in birdhouses. Alfredo loved gardening and was known for keeping his lawn meticulous. He could often be seen visiting with neighbors, walking around the neighborhood, or taking a trip to Choctaw or WinStar Casino. He was a loving brother to all of his siblings. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Alfredo is survived by his daughter, Cindy Saunders (Paul) of Kennedale, TX; son, Alfredo Perales III, “Perry” (Cinde) of Colleyville, TX; son, David Perales (Quincy) of Roswell, NM; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Dyer (Justin), Joshua Johnson (Jenet), Zachary Saunders, Scott Saunders (Michael), Garrett Perales, Chandler Perales, Amanda Liles (Logan), Cheyanne Morris (Blake), Alexander Perales, Tristan Perales; 6 great-grandchildren, Adalyn Dyer, Garrison Dyer, Bennett Dyer, Kendall Gallaher, Preston Morris, Emersyn Morris; sisters, Andrea Farias, Millie Gonzalez, Connie Cantu (Israel), Becky Dominquez (Frank); brother, Alfonso Chapa (Edna), and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
