Burleson

Billie Joyce (Garrett) Foerster passed peacefully at age 93

on May 21, 2021 in Burleson, TX.

In loving remembrance to our precious mom who will forever be in our hearts…

Born on March 1, 1928 in Gouldbusk, TX to Lloyd and Maggie Garrett, Billie was the first of 6 children.  She dearly loved her brother, Robert Garrett and 4 sisters, Juanita (Neta) Gearheart, Maureen Gibbs, Robbie Long, and Peggy Clark, sharing their many humorous childhood stories throughout the years.  Billie later moved to Grand Prairie, TX where she got her first job at the Miller Drugstore and then Cicero’s Drugstore where she met Milbonn (Mel) Foerster; they were married on June 3, 1949 in a double wedding with her beloved sister Neta and fiancé Rusty.  She also enjoyed her jobs at Chance Vaught Aircraft in Grand Prairie and Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, NM.   Billie and Mel built a wonderful life together for 68 years, which blessed them with 4 daughters and led to adventurous travels in the deserts of Alamogordo and mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico, where they also met many lifelong friends.

Known for being kind, caring, honest, and for loving her family, Billie also had a fun-loving and often playful nature.  She loved Jesus and often enjoyed singing the old gospel hymns.  Those who knew Billie will remember her remarkable artistic talent for drawing and painting and her passion for fishing and caring for animals.

Billie is survived by her 4 daughters and their spouses: Sandra and Joe Reeder, Connie and Robert Lacy, Kandee and Donald Rockett, and Sheree and Tony Gothard, and her 13 grandchildren, Tracie, Christy, Jason, Heather, Christi, Amy, Kevin, Wendy, Kirstie, Jordan, Sommer, Annjolee, and Jacob. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, who will forever cherish sweet and precious memories of a devoted and loving mother.  She was lovingly called “Nana” by her 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Maggie Garrett, husband, Mel, and her sisters, Maureen Gibbs and Neta Gearheart.

Special Thanks to the staff at Beyond Faith Hospice for their loving care of our mom in her final days.
