Dwight “Ike” Ardan Shupe, 74, passed away on December 30th at his home in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on July 8th, 1946 in Bristol Tennessee to Joseph E. Shupe and Eula Robinette-Shupe. As a proud son of a WWII Air Force Pilot, he lived in Tennessee, abroad in Italy and in Indiana.

Ike had a bachelor’s degree in Education from Ball State Teachers College in Muncie Indiana, a masters in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Mass., and a law degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was a former high school science teacher and Air Force nuclear research officer. He served in the military for 10 years achieving the rank of Captain. He began his legal career in Dallas with the firm of Hughes and Luce where he became the head of the firm’s Real Estate Section and Land Use Practice Group. After leaving Hughes and Luce, Ike Shupe became a partner in Shupe Ventura, PLLC, a firm he started in 2010. Ike was recognized as a superior land-law attorney in the DFW area.

Ike married Janet Ozimkiewicz in 1984 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were happily married for over 34 years. He lost his beloved wife in February, 2018. When not working, he enjoyed planning off-road camping trips with friends and family. One might have occasionally found him relaxing at his lake house while out on a boat.

Dwight “Ike” Shupe was preceded in death by: Joseph E. Shupe (Father); Eula Robinette-Shupe (mother); maternal grandparents: Anna Robinette; Frank Robinette Sr. as well as paternal grandparents: Lydia Shupe; Joseph Shupe Sr.

Those left to love and remember Dwight are his son, Jason Shupe and his wife Monica Shupe of Mansfield, Texas; daughter, Bridget Scott-Shupe and husband Timmy Ho of Plano, Texas; and daughter, Brandi Mills; Ike was proud of his 3 grandsons, Jacob Shupe, Joseph Shupe and Charles Shupe. He has a sister, Dawn Brandenburg and husband Les Brandenburg of Glen Rose, Texas. He is also survived by sister-in-law Judy Robinson and husband Steve. He was loved and respected by his nieces and nephews and their families:  Frank Brandenburg; Luke Brandenburg and his wife Kelsey Brandenburg (children: Lawton and Brookson Brandenburg); Mary Robinson and Billy Robinson. His extended surviving family from Tennessee include Barbara Robinette, Frank Robinette and Judy Robinette Rader, Thomas Rader, Lauren / Nick Brouhard, John and MK Spear-Williams.

Upon his wishes, in lieu of a viewing and funeral, a Memorial will be held later in the Spring, 2021 to Celebrate his life allowing friends and family to show their love and respect for Dwight “Ike” Shupe.
